Primary Instructor:

“Communication skills ranked as the most or second-most desired baseline skill in all industries.” (CNBC, 12/2/15). This skills- and practice-based course, rooted in rhetorical theory, is designed to increase your knowledge, understanding, and ability to use the fundamentals of oral communication for work, civic engagement, and beyond. You will participate in lectures, discussions and activities, which will build to a number of presentations. You will leave this course a more confident, persuasive, and compelling speaker.

Course Requirements:

Students grades will primarily be based on speeches, but will also include outlines, quizzes, and short assessment papers and assignments. Active participation is also crucial for success in the course.
