Primary Instructor:

In this course, students are placed in volunteer positions in local community organizations and then meet weekly to reflect on their experiences. In these placements, students interact with Americans from diverse backgrounds, practice language skills and reflect on their experiences and the place of nonprofit organizations and volunteerism in US society today.

NOTE: This course is part of ELI’s Community-Engaged Language and Culture Program and is often taken upon completion of or along with ELI 560. (2 credits) Students should enroll in ELI 561 in the winter term; start and end dates will be determined at the beginning of the winter term with the instructor and may occur in winter and/or spring terms.
