Primary Instructor:

This course is based on the first year medical school curriculum covering functional anatomy of the human nervous system and relating this to essential brain processing as well as neurologic disorders. Organizational principles, subdivisions into specialized regions, how the brain transmits sensory and motor information and how the brain controls behavior are emphasized.

Note: Human Neuroanatomy --- This course focuses on key structural aspects of the human brain with an emphasis on function. We will make heavy use of clinical case studies largely in small working groups to uncover how and why symptoms linked to neurological disorders exist. For these case studies, 3-dimensional visualization tools and hands-on examination and limited dissections of human brains will be used to highlight the elegant anatomical relationships of sensory, motor, emotional, and cognitive systems.
