Restricted to Organizational Studies Majors.

Primary Instructor:

One of the most critical success factors for organizational leaders is the ability to implement strategically important change. Change of any magnitude is an inherently social process in organizations. Grounded in organizational behavior research and theory, this course provides practical understanding and skills to manage human resources in the context of strategic change. Topics include (but are not limited to): thinking strategically, culture, job analysis and design, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and incremental and transformational approaches to change.

Course Requirements:

The class is structured to promote nuanced understanding of both the theory and practice of human resources and strategic change. The grading rubric emphasizes activities that promote this level of understanding and include class participation (20%), case write-ups (25%), a multi-step employment life-cycle exercise (15%), professional networking and analysis (10%), a final organization group presentation (15%), and individual action plan (15%).

Intended Audience:

Organizational Studies Students as well as upper level undergraduate or graduate students who have an interest in Organizational Theory and Human Resources
