Advisory Prerequisites:
Enrollment requires departmental application and permission of supervising faculty. Students must have completed at least one introductory sociology course and one sociology course at the 300 level or above to apply.

A combined total of eight credits of SOC 225 (and 389), 321, 324, 394, 395, and 396 may be counted toward a major in Sociology.
Repeatability:
May be repeated for a maximum of 8 credit(s). May be elected more than once in the same term.

Independent study is an avenue for students to work one-on-one with a Sociology faculty member on a mutually agreed topic. Students are strongly encouraged to seek a supervising faculty member one semester prior to the intended study.
