Primary Instructor:

This course further develops students' proficiency in listening and speaking at the post-third-year level. Students have extensive discussions and give presentations based on various social and cultural topics relevant to China and America using introduced vocabulary/patterns and communicative skills.

At the end of the semester, students will be able to demonstrate familiarity with grammar points at advanced level in Chinese language. Students will master more, advanced level, Chinese vocabulary words in social topics. Students will successfully handle academic discussion on some social or cultural topics in Chinese, understand some complicated conversations of social or cultural topics, analyze a range of circumstances, give a number of strategies appropriate to the topic, and lead a successful discussion in the Chinese language at the academic level.

Course Requirements:

Attendance, class participation, oral presentations, debate.

Intended Audience:

This course is not intended for heritage speakers.
