CHEM 210 and CHEM 215.
This course counts toward the 60 credits of math/science required for a Bachelor of Science degree.
May not be repeated for credit.
Primary Instructor:

Topics include: overview of orbitals; molecular orbitals, HOMO, LUMO, aromaticity; conjugate addition; equilibria, rates and mechanism; electrophilic aromatic substitution; overview of nucleophiles; enols and enolate nucleophiles; the aldol reaction; diastereoselectivity; the Diels Alder reaction; pericyclic reactions; and rearrangements.

Course Requirements:

3 Exams (75% of credit), 3 problem sets (15% of credit) and class participation (10% of credit)

Intended Audience:

Special topics course meant to transition undergraduates or graduate students from 215 to either 540 (the graduate physical organic course) or to 420 (the undergraduate organic synthesis class).

Class Format:

3 hour per week lecture
