Description

Discover the nature of stars, black holes, luminous nebulae, supernovae, galaxies, and other cosmic phenomena. In this concept-focused course you will learn what these objects are, how they formed, and what is ultimately in store for the universe. Explore the roles of light, energy, and gravity in astronomy.

Course Requirements:

Course requirements include assigned reading, homework, activities, quizzes, midterm, and a final examination.

Intended Audience:

This course is intended for non-science majors.

Class Format:

Lectures and discussion sections will meet synchronously, and will also be recorded for asynchronous access.

Synchronous participation is strongly encouraged, but is not required.

Zoom, and its components (breakout rooms) will be used in synchronous mode, with a saved version of the class saved in Canvas. Copies of Powerpoint slides are available in Canvas as well, along with other relevant documents and homeworks.
