Advisory Prerequisites:
Seniors or graduate standing.
This course counts toward the 60 credits of math/science required for a Bachelor of Science degree.
May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit(s). May be elected more than once in the same term.
Rackham Information:
Rackham credit requires additional work.
Primary Instructor:


This seven-week mini-course will help prepare undergraduate students for summer STEM research opportunities such as NSF REU programs and other internships. Students will learn how to identify programs that best suit their research interests. They will receive guidance in preparing application materials and for best practices once admitted to their chosen program.

Course Requirements:

Testing for this course will be asynchronous and will consist of students completing written assignments such as creating cover letters, CVs and application queries.

Intended Audience:

Sophomores or juniors who will be applying for STEM summer internships or who intend to secure a summer research opportunity like an REU program.

Class Format:

7 week mini-course that meets 1 hour, twice a week. This course will be fully online and synchronous with some asynchronous components. We will use Canvas for asynchronous online components and Zoom for synchronous meetings with the instructor
