“Part of the strength of science is that it has tended to attract individuals who love knowledge and the creation of it… Thus, it is the communication process which is at the core of the vitality and integrity of science.” In this course, you will learn skills and strategies for reading scientific articles, explaining science concepts and ideas, and writing literature reviews, lab reports, and popular science articles. We study how great science explainers like Feynman can take abstruse concepts and break them down in simple and elegant ways in their writings. We then step into popular science writing in the 21st century. We will also read examples of groundbreaking research articles from Nature and Science. Through this course, you will complete several writing assignments that ask you to explore scientific concepts and topics that interest you. You will learn skills and strategies for reading, writing, providing feedback, and revising your work. No science background is needed.
