Description

The Qur'anic & Classical Arabic series is designed for undergraduates who wish to learn Arabic in order to prepare themselves to read original Classical/Islamic texts. The primary goal of this first course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of the phonology, morphology, and syntax of Classical Arabic, the language of the Qur’an, Hadith and Medieval Islamic literature. The course also aims to develop reading and translation competence as well as syntactic-semantic analysis of the texts selected. Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to read with acceptable pronunciation and translate simple Classical Arabic texts, including general information on Islam through short simple stories, Hadiths and texts.
