This is the very first course of basic level Chinese. In this course, students learn about the sound system of Modern Chinese (especially the four tones) and gain some control of basic sentence patterns, aural comprehension skills, simple daily-life conversations, and character writing. About 350 characters are introduced.
Students will be able to converse and read on daily topics such as greetings, introducing oneself and family, hobbies, shopping, college life, and transportation. Students will also learn how to hand-write and type Chinese characters. Course Requirements:

ASIANLAN 101 is an introductory course for students who have zero prior knowledge of Chinese. This course is not for heritage speakers.
