ASIANLAN 335 is the first half of the intermediate sequence designed to help students work toward independence as Korean language practitioners. The course provides well-balanced training in four areas of language (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) at the intermediate level. Students build up a repertoire of vocabularies, expressions, and grammar patterns. Conversation exercises designed to enhance self-expression enable students to use what they have built up with ease and accuracy. Students will also develop improved reading speed as they work through course readings selected on the basis of how current and practically relevant they are to students’ lives.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Converse with ease and confidence about their experiences
  • Compose simple summaries on familiar topics and describe objects, people, and situations in detail
  • Express emotions and converse about memories
  • Discuss future plans and persuade others
  • Express opinions and thoughts logically and persuasively

Course Requirements:

Grading is based on class attendance and participation, assignments, project, quizzes, lesson tests, and final oral and written examinations.

Intended Audience:

The intended audience consists of students who have successfully completed Second Year Korean or who have performed at the equivalent proficiency level on the placement test.
