Chem 215 gives students further practice in applying the major concepts of chemistry to predicting the physical and chemical properties of organic compounds, including macromolecules, both synthetic and biological. Lectures and discussion sections are both planned to be held in person. There will be short topical videos available asynchronously to watch before attending lecture. The faculty-led scheduled class periods will be used to introduce additional material and work on synchronous problem solving. These lectures will also be recorded and made available to students for later viewing. The GSI-led discussions will be held only in person and not recorded. Attendance at the GSI-led discussions is not mandatory (there are no synchronous graded assignments tied to the discussions), but is strongly advised.
Intended Audience:
This course is a particularly good second course for students with AP credit in chemistry, Honors students, and other students with a strong interest in chemistry and biology, and follows directly from CHEM 210.
