In ECON 102, the fundamental concepts and theories of macroeconomics are developed and used to analyze problems of current interest.
Major topics include
• the determinants of aggregate output,
• employment and unemployment,
• inflation,
• the balance of international trade, and
• economic growth.
Course Requirements:
The bulk of the grade will correspond to exams. Three in-person midterms are planned for the semester and include both multiple-choice and short answer questions. They will occur sometime in the evening. Please also plan for an in-person 3rd midterm during the official final exam time slot.
Intended Audience:
All students who are interested in learning more about basic economics. Students should have also taken Econ 101 as an advised prerequisite.
Class Format:
The course format consists of three hours of in-person lecture per week (Section 100) by the instructor and a one and a half hour in-person section meeting led each week by a graduate student instructor. The section meetings are limited to approximately 35 students.
