The structure, function, and performance of the European economy since World War II. Emphasis is placed on the description and analysis of European economic integration. Topics include: the origins and institutions of the European Union, the customs union, the internal market, the monetary union, common policies for agriculture and competition, geographic enlargement, and Social Europe.
Course Requirements:
Grading based on one midterm examination (largely essay in format), a cumulative final examination (large essay in format), a short paper (no more than five pages), and four very short reading reports. Final examination administered in the official time-slot assigned by the Registrar. No problem sets.
