Credit Exclusions:
No credit granted to those who have completed or are enrolled in ECON 454, or ECON 251. Students may take only one of the following courses for credit towards graduation: ECON 251, ECON 452, and ECON 454.
Enforced Prerequisites:
With a minimum grade of C-, ECON 451 or ECON 453, or STATS 426.
Other Course Info:
One (but only one) of ECON 452 and 454 may be counted toward an Economics minor.
BS:
This course counts toward the 60 credits of math/science required for a Bachelor of Science degree.
Repeatability:
May not be repeated for credit.

Description

This course, a continuation of ECON 451, is intended to prepare students to conduct empirical research in economics. The classical linear regression model is developed with special emphasis on the basic assumptions of the model, economic situations in which the assumptions are violated, and alternative estimation procedures that are appropriate in these cases. Computer exercises are used to introduce students to special problems encountered in the analysis of economic data.

Course Requirements:

"- One mid-term and one final exam
- Six to eight homework assignments
- A group project (a research paper) which you will present in class. "
