Description

In this course we will discover together (and then undiscover!) the basics of creative writing. The idea is to learn the “rules” so we can find ways to break them. We’ll read, write, and engage with a variety of texts, with a focus on poetry in the first part of the semester, and fiction and creative non-fiction in the second half of the semester.

Your own creative work is the central element to our study—the class includes a workshop component, through which you’ll have the opportunity to participate in the process of revision for your own writing and that of your peers.

This class is open to students of all levels of experience. Whether you’re someone who has never written before or someone who does it every day, I welcome you to our classroom. Everyone’s perspective is needed and valuable.
