Description

This class will explore "religion" as a part of human culture: where it appears, how it influences and shapes experience, and how it came to be thought of as something distinct and separate from the "secular" world. Each week, we will learn a concept together that helps us think about religion, and we will apply that concept to a case study. This course is a gateway for the Religion minor, and will prepare you to participate in higher-level courses about religious traditions, past and present.

Class Format:

Weekly lecture (in-person), discussion, reading and writing assignments.
