No credit granted for students who have completed ITALIAN 100, 101, 102, 103, 113, 230, 231, 232, or 233.

SPANISH 275 and 276; or SPANISH 277.
Other Course Info:
Conducted in Italian. Students who have completed or are enrolled in a second-year Italian course (ITALIAN 231, 232 or 233) should not take this course, because it is not an appropriate match to the skills they have already mastered. ITALIAN 410 does not count toward the Italian major or minor requirements. ITALIAN 410 counts as a 400-level elective toward the Spanish major or minor. Students may count only one of ITALIAN 410 or PORTUG 280 toward the Spanish major or minor.

Description

This course is an introduction to the Italian language and culture. It is designed for students with an active competence in Spanish who wish to acquire a more profound understanding of the Italian culture and society at an accelerated pace, through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities in Italian. Due to the linguistic similarities between Spanish and Italian, students will quickly master the four skills, gain the ability to understand conversational Italian, and communicate effectively in everyday practical situations. At the same time they will get acquainted with the different topics from the Italian culture.
