Accepted Exchange Students

Congratulations and welcome to the University of Michigan exchange program in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. If you have not already activated your U-M email account, we encourage you to do so. Please check your email frequently. You will receive emails about registering for classes and registering for our mandatory orientation program.

New Exchange Student Orientation

New exchange students should plan on arriving in Ann Arbor in time to attend new student orientation. Prior to departure, admitted students will receive information on the course registration process. Students are stronly encouraged to begin this process as soon as their registration appointment becomes available. For more information, see the CGIS Exchange Student Registration Instructions.

Academic Advising The Newnan Academic Advising Center serves exchange students by helping register for courses during orientation, assisting them in meeting academic goals, and providing information about academic policies and resources.
Academic Calendar Includes dates for the start of each term, holidays and exam periods.

Campus Safety Handbook The handbook contains quick reference information for emergency services, counseling, mental health, substance abuse, and transportation options. In addition, the handbook describes university policies and state laws that apply to U-M students, and offers tips for crime prevention.

Dental Care The International Center provides resources for seeking treatment for regular dental services or dental emergencies.
Health Insurance If you are an F-1 or J-1 international student or a J-1 visiting scholar whose Form I-20 or DS-2019 was issued by the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), you are required to have health insurance coverage for yourself and any F-2 or J-2 dependents while at the University of Michigan. Health insurance coverage is coordinated through the U-MInternational Center.
International Center The U-M International Center provides a variety of services to international students, scholars, faculty and staff. The International Student and Scholar Services team advises students on immigration laws and regulations, verifies and tracks visa status, and provides workshops on adjusting to life in U.S. society. The International Center's Health Insurance Office administers the mandatory health insurance program for international students and scholars, including providing and processing forms needed for insurance enrollment, changes, and requests for waivers of the insurance requirement.
Michigan Daily

The student-run daily newspaper covers the university's campus, administration, sports teams, faculty and culture as well as the town of Ann Arbor and other topics that affect the lives of students. Its former editors, reports, photographers, business staff members and other alumni have gone on to work at publications like the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribute, and Associated Press.

University Health Service UHS is a health care clinic located on central campus. UM students, faculty, staff and others affiliated with UM are eligible to visit UHS. For students enrolled for the current semester on the Ann Arbor campus, most UHS services are covered by the health service fee, which is paid as part of tuition.
