About the Graduate Program
Thank you for your interest in our graduate program! We offer many exciting opportunities for your Ph.D. with strong research programs available in the areas of Analytical, Chemical Biology, Inorganic, Materials, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. Over 250 excellent graduate students are already pursuing projects in over 50 research groups.
The Chemistry Department is located on the University of Michigan's central campus next to the departments of Biology, Earth and Environmental Studies, and Physics. Programs in Applied Physics and Biophysics as well as the Schools of Natural Resources and Pharmacy are also adjacent to Chemistry. The Life Sciences Institute and Medical School are just a few blocks away. The College of Engineering is a short bus ride away. Chemistry's central location fosters many productive interdisciplinary interactions.
