Undergraduate Research and Independent Study
Participation in undergraduate research is a long-standing tradition in the Department of Chemistry, and is a great learning experience that will help to further develop your problem-solving skills, your laboratory techniques, and your communication skills.

Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Eligibility: UM Department of Chemistry majors with freshman, sophomore or junior status
Commitment: Minimum 10-week full time research equivalent; participation in weekly seminars, field trips, final poster sessions, and other activities of the program.
Potential Mentors: Chemistry Research Faculty
Every summer, the department and a number of private and corporate partners provide summer undergraduate research fellowships.
