LSA Summer Reads »
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is proud to inaugurate its Summer Reads Program with James Kynge’s China Shakes the World. The Program is designed to strengthen the sense of academic community through fostering greater dialogue among faculty, students, and staff, as well as facilitate students’ entry into this community through intellectual engagement and exchange. A further goal of the Program is to link students to and help publicize the College’s Theme Year. In its initial year, the Program involves over 1500 students, predominantly first-year, in the Michigan Learning Communities. Participating programs include: Adelia Cheever Program, Comprehensive Studies Program, Health Science Scholars Program, Honors Program, Lloyd Hall Scholars Program, Max Kade House, Michigan Community Scholars Program, Michigan Research Community, Residential College, and Women in Science and Engineering, each of which has additional programming, such as group discussions, featured faculty speakers, and film and lecture series tailored towards the themes of the individual programs. In addition to these events, Program participants will have an opportunity to meet James Kynge at his public talk and other venues during his campus visit.
