Kate graduated magna cum laude from Grand Valley State University in 2008 with a B.A. in Classical Languages. In 2007, she attended the Intercollegiate Centre for Classical Studies in Rome and vowed that she would one day return as a Graduate Student Instructor. Her research interests include Martial and Latin epigram; sense perception, especially smell; papyrology; Roman comedy; and authorship and readership in ancient literature.
Her preliminary examinations topics were: ·Martial (with J. Mira Seo) ·Ancient Greek Scholarship (with Francesca Schironi) ·Plutarch’s Lives (with Celia Schultz)
Kate’s (as yet untitled) dissertation explores the role of odor in Roman thought and literature.
