Ellen received her B.A. in Classics, Ancient History & Classical Civilizations, and English from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008. She is currently working on her dissertation, which will explore the complex interaction between love and memory in Latin poetry, particularly in Ovid's Remedia Amoris. Ellen is interested in all periods of Latin literature, especially Augustan poetry and its reception in later periods. She presented a paper on Vergilian characterizations of love in medieval Latin poetry at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in 2009, and continues to work on late antique and medieval Latin imitations of Vergil's poetry. Her other research interests include gender studies, color cognition, and the expression of emotion in Latin poetry.
