Vignette is the name of the enterprise-level web content management products offered by OpenText corporation, a software company and leader in enterprise content management. OpenText began in 1991 with a content/document search tool that evolved into more robust document and content management offerings. Previously its own corporate entity known specifically for web solutions, Vignette was acquired by OpenText in the summer of 2009 to complete their enterprise content management product line called ECM Suite.
LSA has been using prior versions of Vignette products since 2003. Currently, the College utilizes a combination of several products including, Vignette Content Management (VCM) 7.6, Dynamic Site Module (DSM), and Rich Media Services (RMS). The product website has more information on their line of web content management products. LSA initially deployed this line up of web solutions to our development team in March 2009. Then, in August 2010 the first CMS Version 7.6 site, Sweetland Center for Writing, was launched.
Since acquiring Vignette, OpenText has made the products mentioned above and others from Vignette the collective centerpiece of the web product in OpenText's broader ECM Suite. The company itself reported about 3,400 employees and more than $785 million in fiscal revenue in 2009.
