Our Approach To Accessibility
Among the primary directives of the Web Services team is delivering premium content provided by the units and departments of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) to the world. Today's internet makes it possible for the College's Content Management System (CMS) to deliver this content faster and with fewer barriers than ever before.
It is in the spirit of removing barriers, that the Web Services team is working on setting standards utilizing practices that include shortcuts, captions, high-contrast views and text-to-speech technology. Such practices benefit not only those individuals with disabilities using assistive technology...they benefit everyone.
The LSA Web Services team currently is working with the University's Website Accessibility Coordinator to implement a strategic roadmap to accessibility that will include: Testing our software using industry accepted technology; re-development, in some cases, of key functionality within our sites; and the education of CMS contributors in methods to make the content they generate accessible.
Your thoughts are important to us. Please send us comments, concerns, or suggestions regarding the web accessibility of LSA's CMS-managed webistes. User feedback is thoughtfully considered during our improvement process.
