  • About

Andre’s research explores the intersection of media, identity formation, and everyday life. His dissertation is a social scientific, qualitative inquiry into how transgender audiences integrate popular media into their lives. His research illuminates transgender individuals’ struggle for the ordinary, or the constant and deliberate work devoted to achieving the routine affordances of everyday life. He conceptualizes ‘the ordinary’ as an accomplishment informed by and achieved through media culture. He has a forthcoming article in Critical Studies in Media Communication and a coauthored chapter in Watching While Black: Centering the Television of Black Audiences.
