Julia Lippman conducts research on predictors and effects of media consumption, particularly in the domains of gender and sexuality. Her dissertation examines the effects of media portrayals of stalking/persistent pursuit on attitudes toward stalking. Other work has examined adolescent sexting, autobiographical memories of personally significant music, and media representations of gender.
