    Jana is a PhD student in Communication Studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her research is focused on health communication, with current projects exploring the use of new technologies to reduce health disparities, the impact of media on health-related decision-making, and the determinants and outcomes of health information seeking. Jana has conducted research in the U.S. and Germany, and has been working on community-based health research with the Hopi Tribe in Arizona for over 2 years. As a recipient of the 2015 Engaged Pedagogy Initiative Fellowship from Rackham Graduate School and the Center for Engaged Academic Learning, she will develop a community-based undergraduate course on health inequality in the Fall. Jana is an international student from Germany, and has lived in New Mexico and New York prior to moving to Michigan.
