Many students plan their study abroad experiences through other universities, colleges or programs. Whether you choose a University of Michigan affiliated program or not, it is important to begin planning for study abroad early. Careful pre-planning and follow-up is crucial to ensure that coursework taken abroad will count toward the student’s degree requirements. Students considering study abroad should meet early with an LSA advisor and a department advisor to discuss options for receiving credit toward the degree.
Communication Studies declared majors may earn up to 6 (six) upper-level credits from communication-related coursework through study abroad programs or domestic transfer institutions. Credits must be approved prior to going abroad and final approved upon completion of the program by the Communication Studies foreign faculty advisor. For additional information, please review the Approval Process for Transfer and Study Abroad Credits.
