MACS

Michigan Association of Communciation Studies (MACS)

The department sponsors the Michigan Association for Communication Studies (MACS), an undergraduate student group open to Communication Studies majors and prospective majors. The organization meets on a regular basis in the fall and winter terms to explore career and internship opportunities in communication and media-related markets. A primary goal of MACS is to provide a forum that encourages student leadership, social interaction, networking, and professional development. For more information about MACS or to be added  to their email group, please find them on Facebook and Twitter

Our MACS peer advisors can answer questions about general major requirements, internship planning, resume and cover letter advice, and provide information about MACS. Walk-in advising is available. See our Make an Advising Appointment link to find the peer advising walk-in hours and location.

Student Media Watchdog Association (SMWA)

The Student Media Watchdog Association (SMWA) is a new undergraduate student group founded by Communication Studies majors. The organization publishes a weekly online newsletter with a goal to hold news organizations accountable for their news content and to encourage the general public to think critically about the news it consumes. For more information about SMWA, please visit their web site, blog or find them on Facebook and Twitter.
