Professor Copeland is the Kahn Endowed Term Professor of Classical Studies, English, and Comparative Literature at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of Rhetoric, Hermeneutics, and Translation in the Middle Ages: Academic Traditions and Vernacular Texts (Cambridge, 1991/1995) andPedagogy, Intellectuals, and Dissent in the Later Middle Ages: Lollardy and Ideas of Learning (Cambridge, 2001). She is currently working on the volume on the Middle Ages in the Oxford History of Classical Reception in English Literature and on essays on medieval Latin annotation and glossing and on Aristotle’s Rhetoric in medieval England.
