YEAR OF TRANSLATION

Welcome to "A Year of Translation"

The Department of Comparative Literature has designated 2009-2010 as our "Year of Translation." This initiative is supported by the College of Literature, Sciences and Arts at the University of Michigan, and is part of ongoing national efforts to examine the role of translation in this increasingly globalized world.

We are reaching out to units across campus to arrange interdisciplinary opportunities for members of the university community to become engaged with the wide range of issues around translation.

Our activities for 2009-2010 include:

  • Organizing lectures, workshops, screenings, symposia and other events that investigate the implications of moving across specific languages, cultures, and time periods.
