Boris Avdeev, 1980-2012

One of our recent graduates, Boris Avdeev (PhD ’11), has passed away at the age of 31. A scholarship fund in memory of Boris has been established in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences to support graduate student research.

New Camp Davis Scholarship Fund in Memory of Jillian Drow, 1989 - 2010

An endowed scholarship fund has been established in memory of Jillian Drow, a University of Michigan student who died in a tragic accident while hiking in Grand Teton National Park in 2010.

William T. Smith Endows Chair and Lectures

William T. Smith has made a gift of $2.6M to endow a faculty position in honor of Professor Henry N. Pollack and to endow the Department’s weekly Smith Lecture Series.
