Advising

Faculty Advisors

The faculty advisors for Earth and Environmental Sciences undergraduates are Professor Kacey Lohmann, Professor Tom Baumiller, and Professor Peter van Keken, Associate Chair for Curriculum.

Students are encouraged to work with the same advisor throughout their career. New advising appointments can be set up with either of the three advisors listed below. Their subdisciplines are listed. Students interested in any of these subdisciplines are strongly encouraged to meet with that specific advisor.

Assigned advisors are as follows:
Prof. Kacey Lohmann, 1014 C.C. Little Bldg. (geochemistry)
Prof. Tom Baumiller, 2508 Museum Bldg. (geobiology/paleontology)
Prof. Peter van Keken, 4502 C.C. Little Bldg. (geophysics and mathematical geology)

Students should use the LSA Advising Appointment System to make an appointment: Click on this link to make an appointment in the LSA Advising Appointment System.

During May-August 2012, Prof. van Keken will be the only advisor available. Students should email him (keken@umich.edu) if the open slots in his advising schedule do not work for them.
