Commodities Trader

Douglas Monieson has been involved in the financial trading community for more than twenty years. He began his career in 1989 as a spot foreign exchange dealer at Manufacturers Hanover. He became a Commodity Trading Advisor in 1991 and worked for Commodities Corporation, where he successfully traded from both their Princeton and Chicago offices. Since 1994, he has been an active member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). He is a founding member of the NASDAQ100 futures pit, and served as the Vice Chairman of the Pit Committee from the pits inception until 2001. He is a valued member of the CME Pit Supervision Committee (1999-Present) and has served on the CME Group’s Political Action Committee since 2007.

Monieson has made regular appearances as a financial commentator on Bloomberg TV and has made guest appearances on CNBC, CNNFN, and Canada’s Report on Business TV.

Monieson is also an active member of Chicago’s angel investment community. He is the Chairman of the Board of Hyde Park Angels (HPA) where he takes an active role in the group’s investment process. He has board responsibilities for one of the groups portfolio companies, UICO, a touch screen manufacturing company that specializes in rugged touch screens for the industrial space. Monieson also led Hyde Park Angels successful exit of Gradebeam which was purchased by Textura (TXTU) in 2011. Gradebeam.com was a SAAS business that connects general contractors and subcontractors in the construction industry. In addition, he serves on the LPAC Committee for Hyde Park Venture Partners, an early stage investment fund that is affiliated with Hyde Park Angels.

Monieson has a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and received his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. Doug and his wife Leslie live in Lincoln Park, Illinois with their two children, Aaron and Sarie.
