Academic background

I received the B.S. degree (with distinction) in Zoology from Iowa State University in 1971, and the Ph.D. in Entomology (Acarology) from Cornell University in 1981. I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. I have subsequently served as a visiting professor at Ohio State University (Acarology Summer Program), and the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biologicas, Instituto Politecnico Nacional, Mexico City, Mexico.
