Research feature: Cardinale leads team calling for preservation of biological diversity
Twenty years after the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, 17 prominent ecologists are calling for renewed international efforts to curb the loss of biological diversity.
Over the past two decades, strong scientific evidence has emerged showing that loss of the world's biological diversity reduces the productivity and sustainability of natural ecosystems and decreases their ability to provide society with goods and services essential for human well-being, according to an international team of ecologists led by U-M's Professor Bradley Cardinale.

Alumni profile: Chakrabarty pens book "A Guide to Academia"
Prosanta Chakrabarty (Ph.D. EEB 2006) “I wanted to put all the advice I was given by lots of good people (mostly at Michigan) onto paper.” So, he started writing the book as a little side project without much intention of it being anything but a reference to give to students.
Wouldn't you know: Wiley recently published his book called, "A Guide to Academia: Getting into and surviving grad school, postdocs and a research job." Chakrabarty's book is receiving glowing reviews (including a recent review in the journal Science and is available on Amazon.
