Fields of study
Plant community ecology

Research interests
My general area of interest lies in determining the forces that structure and determine the dynamics of plant communities. Specifically, I am interested in how spatial processes, such as the distribution of individuals, resources, and dispersal may act and interact to affect such processes as competition and herbivory. My empirical work will focus on how the traits of clonal reproduction and physiological integration affects the competitive abilities and abundance of species in wetland areas. Theoretically, I am interested in incorporating explicit spatial relations, stochastic events, and direct interactions between individuals, rather than whole populations, into the current frameworks of population, community, and metacommunity ecology.
