Internal U-M Fellowships

Faculty Fellowships

The Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies will award up to four Faculty Fellowships for the 2012-13 academic year. These fellowships are designed to facilitate faculty research while engaging recipients more directly in Institute programs. The award includes release from teaching one course for active faculty whose home department is history, along with a $2,500 research grant. Recipients are expected to actively participate in Institute events and, ideally, serve as panelists, commentators, and/or chairs.

Graduate Student Fellowships

The Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies will award up to six graduate research fellowships in the amount of $5,000 to University of Michigan graduate students in history and joint history programs. These fellowships have been funded by a generous gift from Kenneth and Frances Aftel Eisenberg and aim to assist outstanding graduate students at either the pre-candidacy or post-candidacy level in pursuing their dissertation research. Graduate Fellows form a core part of the Institute fellowship community and are expected to participate regularly in Institute events. Fellows are also encouraged to serve as commentators or participants in Institute colloquia, workshops, and events.
