Karen R. Merrill, Frederick Rudolph ’42 – Class of 1965 Professor of American Culture in the Department of History at Williams College, discussed the history of American environmental politics in her November 21 presentation with the Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies. Her talk, "Real and Ineffable Properties: Resource Politics and the Modern American West," focused on how individuals translated their personal experiences in the natural environment to the political realm. The event continued the Institute's 2013-15 theme, "Materials of History." Professor Merrill's lecture is available online as an MP3 audio file and is accessible for University of Michigan account holders.
