  • About

Theresa joined the ELI in 1986, after having spent three and a half years living in Indonesia, where she studied traditional Javanese music and dance. While living there she became interested in teaching ESL, and pursued a MA in TESOL from Eastern Michigan University after returning to Ann Arbor

Currently she is the ELI's Academic Advisor and a Lecturer. Her particular areas of interest are in speaking and interactive communication. She is the coauthor of a text, Academic Interactions: Communicating on Campus, with Christine Feak and Susan Reinhart, published by UMPress. Another area of interest is in teacher training, and she often teaches in the ELI courses that focus on training international GSIs.

In addition, Theresa works closely with the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning to offer both a discipline specific ELI course and a writing/speaking clinic for their international students. She also coordinates and teaches in the college's 3 week intensive pre-sessional course for new graduate students in Architecture, Urban Planning, and Urban Design.
