ELI seeks experienced grads and undergrads
The English Language Institute (ELI) seeks undergraduate and graduate students to participate as paid consultants in a prospective GSI (Graduate Student Instructor) language and pedagogy course sponsored by LS&A and offered by ELI and CRLT, for prospective GSIs whose undergraduate education was not in the medium of English. The course runs from July 24 to August 14, 2012.
Undergraduate Consultant
Undergraduate Consultants will participate as students in practice teaching sessions, and provide oral and written feedback.

Experienced Graduate Student Consultant
Experienced Graduate Student Consultants – especially with experience as University of Michigan LS&A GSIs in Astronomy, EEB, Chemistry, Math, Physics, Psychology, and Statistics – will provide feedback during practice teaching events. Their involvement is consistently rated one of the most useful resources in the course.

Marketing, Business Topics, and Team Projects Coaching [.25]
The English Language Institute seeks a GSI to teach in the English for Business Studies (EBS) summer program from June 25 - August 10, 2012. The appointment requires (1) teaching the basics of marketing from prepared materials (some supplementation required) to enable international MBA students to produce a marketing plan and (2) delivering four 2.5-hour lectures on current business topics of the applicant’s own choosing, focusing on business practices and terminology. The position also requires coaching the teams on their marketing projects: meeting with project teams on their proposals, reviewing all deliverables, providing feedback on marketing plan drafts, and evaluating the final oral presentations. Applicants must be available to meet before the start of the program and during the session with the other faculty members.
This is a 25% appointment (35% for two sections, pending enrollment). (If two sections, duties will also include co-teaching a team development component (materials available).)
Required Qualifications: Applicants must be currently enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Michigan. Applicants must have an MBA or work toward a doctorate in business plus business experience.
Qualifications: Excellent teaching and consultation skills; expertise in teaching marketing concepts, conducting marketing research, and producing marketing/business plans. Ability to work well on a team. Preference given to GSIs enrolled in Michigan Ross School of Business PhD program.
