Academic Speaking and Writing for Architecture Students

This course is designed for students in the Master of Architecture, Master of Urban Planning or Master of Urban Design programs. Students learn and practice effective presentation and discussion skills in the context of their discipline. Through a variety of assignments, students also develop awareness of their own academic and professional community. Writing tasks focus on summaries and responses and are integrated with reading and discussion. In addition, appropriate academic email, citing sources, plagiarism, reading strategies, and vocabulary development are covered. Presentations are videotaped and students have opportunities for individual meetings with the instructor to review presentations and written work.
