ELI 334:  Academic Presentations

Fall & Winter Semesters, 10-week course (3 Credits)

Learn the skills needed for organizing and delivering presentations for academic and professional audiences.  The focus in class will be on:

  • Major presentation types and accompanying organizational strategies
  • Ways to engage audience
  • The use of effective nonverbal communication skills, such as appropriate eye contact and hand gestures
  • Developing effective visual aids
  • Effective voice control
  • How to have more productive Q & A sessions

Presentations are videotaped and critiqued in small groups and/or individually with the instructor. Pronunciation may be addressed as needed.
