ELI 337: Pronunciation II

Winter Semester (1 credit)

ELI 336 is NOT a prerequisite for this course.

Review problematic vowels and consonants based on individual diagnostics, and increase the correct use of these sounds from more to less rehearsed speaking situations. While moving into less rehearsed and more spontaneous speaking, more attention will be given to stress, rhythm and intonation. Activities include:

  • Choral-taped reading
  • Short (2-3 min) presentations
  • Discussions with a focus on accuracy (pronunciation and grammatical)
  • Preparation for reading conference presentations
