Some specific lecture strategies addressed are: using background information, predicting, listening for headings, recognizing patterns of organization, recognizing opinions and understanding the impact of a speaker's style on the listener. Students will have the opportunity to listen to lectures and lecture segments on DVD and on the Internet. Emphasis will be placed on the need for continual strategy development.
