Pronunciation II
1 credit
Winter
This advanced pronunciation course focuses on increasing intelligibility along with grammatical accuracy. Problematic vowel and consonant sounds are reviewed; focus is placed on improving control of prosodics (i.e., stress, rhythm, intonation, linking, reduction, deletion) in extended discourse; and grammatical accuracy with fluent production is practiced. The goal is to increase automaticity, from more to less rehearsed contexts. Activities include choral/taped reading, 2-3 minute presentations, discussions with grammatical accuracy focus, and preparation for reading conference presentations. Tutorials are offered and attendance is required.
